A shocking case of violence unfolded in the quiet community of Ibereko, Badagry, as a 36-year-old man, Ebuka Mmedimogu, was dragged before a magistrate court for allegedly stabbing his neighbour following a heated argument over a dead dog.
The incident, which occurred on July 28, 2025, at Dofi Compound in the Sawmill area, has left residents in disbelief after what began as a dispute over dog meat escalated into a near-fatal attack.
Mmedimogu was charged with breach of peace, assault, and attempted murder after he allegedly attacked Anthony Ugwu with a broken bottle, inflicting deep wounds on his left hand.
Witnesses reported that the accused caused chaos in the neighbourhood before the violent altercation, leaving locals terrified.
While police records remain silent on the exact cause of the clash, a source close to the case revealed that the conflict began when Mmedimogu brought a dead dog into the compound, allegedly picked up from the roadside.
“He wanted to sell the dog meat to the complainant’s father,” the insider disclosed. “But the complainant objected, suggesting they should instead drain the blood and cook it to eat together. That’s when the argument turned violent.”
When arraigned before Magistrate Aina, Mmedimogu pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court granted him bail at N750,000, with two reliable sureties required to secure his release.
The case has been adjourned to August 14, 2025, for further hearing as investigations continue.
