Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Transformer and Bonu Solomon |
In a major development for residents of Badagry West, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the deployment of nine brand-new electricity transformers to the area. The announcement was made by Hon. Bonu Solomon, the lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, who described the move as a "significant milestone" in efforts to stabilize power supply in the region.
Hon. Solomon revealed that the approval followed sustained engagements with the governor, emphasizing the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in underserved communities. “I am thrilled to announce another achievement in our quest to restore electricity to our people,” he said. “Governor Sanwo-Olu has graciously approved nine new transformers, which will soon be deployed to key communities in Badagry West.”
The lawmaker urged residents to appreciate the governor’s intervention, noting that the transformers would supplement existing infrastructure and reduce prolonged power outages. Badagry West has faced electricity challenges for years, with many communities relying on inadequate and overburdened transformers. The new installations are expected to boost power distribution, support businesses, and improve living conditions.
In a statement shared on social media, Hon. Solomon expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his responsiveness. “Let us join hands in thanking His Excellency for his dedication to illuminating Badagry West,” he said. “This is a testament to his administration’s focus on inclusive development.” The transformers are expected to be installed in high-demand areas, ensuring equitable access to electricity.
Residents have welcomed the news with optimism, with many hoping for faster implementation. Community leaders praised Hon. Solomon’s advocacy, describing it as a victory for grassroots representation. “This is what happens when leaders listen to the people,” said Chief Samuel Adekunle, a local stakeholder. “We urge the government to ensure timely installation so our businesses and homes can thrive.”
The Lagos State Government has yet to announce a specific timeline for the transformer installations, but sources confirm that procurement and logistics are underway. This development aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader agenda to upgrade infrastructure across Lagos, particularly in underserved regions. For Badagry West, the transformers signal a brighter, more electrified future.
