The ancient town of Ikoga Zebbe in Badagry Local Government erupted in jubilation on Tuesday as His Royal Majesty Aholu De-Ovitotode Toyi celebrated his 5th coronation anniversary, marking half a decade of visionary leadership, cultural preservation, and community development.
The grand event, held at the historic Sano Palace, was a vibrant display of tradition, unity, and gratitude, drawing dignitaries, chiefs, and residents from across the kingdom.
The anniversary festivities featured rich Yoruba traditions, including the sacred sounding of the Gbedu drum, a symbol of royal authority. The monarch, accompanied by his three queens Olori Omoladeeni, Olori Pedetin, and Olori Ewatomi Fabiyi led a procession to key cultural sites, including the Sango Tedo shrine and the historic Oja Oba market. These visits served as a tribute to the ancestors and a prayer for continued peace, prosperity, and growth in Ikoga Zebbe.
In a statement released by Prince Awhanbe Jesuyon Sunday, the palace’s Secretary on Media and Publicity, the monarch reflected on his reign, describing it as a journey of unity, purpose, and development.
He highlighted key achievements, including infrastructure improvements, youth empowerment programs, and initiatives fostering communal harmony. “Our throne remains committed to inclusive progress and the sustainable development of Ikoga Zebbe, Badagry, and Lagos State at large,” he declared.
The monarch used the occasion to urge residents to strengthen their commitment to communal growth, emphasizing that collective effort is essential for lasting prosperity. “As we celebrate this milestone, we must reaffirm our dedication to partnerships that uplift our people and secure a brighter future for generations to come,” he stated.
The speech resonated deeply with attendees, reinforcing the throne’s role as a unifying force in the kingdom.
