The Ijebu Women for Equity and Nationhood (I-Women) have pledged to turn the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona’s, vision of a standalone Ijebu State into reality.

In a powerful statement issued by Convener Yinka Ogundimu, the group comprising influential Ijebu women from diverse sectors vowed to collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve this historic goal.

The women’s group highlighted Oba Adetona’s 65-year reign, marked by fearless leadership, cultural preservation, and relentless advocacy for Ijebu statehood.

“Kabiyesi championed this cause with passion, believing it was a rightful acknowledgment of Ijebu’s historical and economic contributions to Nigeria,” the statement read.

Remembered for his boldness in speaking truth to power, the late monarch was celebrated for his unshakable integrity, compassionate leadership, and dedication to justice. His legacy continues to inspire generations.

“He wore the crown with unmatched dignity, setting a standard in royal leadership that remains unbeatable,” the group declared.

With unwavering determination, I-Women are now mobilizing to ensure that Oba Adetona’s dream of Ijebu State becomes a reality, honoring his lifetime of service to the Ijebu people.
