Semako Gbetoyon Samson, a concerned resident of Ikoga-Iragon in Badagry Local Government, has penned an open letter to Hon. Engr. Setonji David, Deputy Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, highlighting the worsening state of the Ikoga-Iragon to Erekiti-Agbobope Road.

The letter, a mix of commendation and urgent appeal, calls for immediate action to address the deteriorating condition of the critical road, which has become a major concern for residents.

Samson his letter acknowledged Hon. David’s past and ongoing contributions to infrastructural development in Ward I. He cited completed projects such as the Ikoga-Ere Road II, Henwa Community entrance, and Enayon-Aso Rock Community road as evidence of the lawmaker’s dedication.

"Your efforts have outperformed those of your predecessors, and we are grateful for your leadership," Samson wrote, praising the visible impact of good governance in the area.

However, Samson expressed concern that the Ikoga-Iragon Road might have been overlooked due to the lawmaker’s busy schedule. He referenced a May 7, 2025, social media post by Hon. David’s spokesperson, Mr. Posu Davies, where the poor state of the road was acknowledged but attributed to the rainy season. Residents had patiently waited, expecting intervention once the rains subsided. Now, with the heavy rainfall over, Samson is calling for immediate action.

"The rainy season has ended, and this is the perfect time to fulfill your promise of equitable governance across Badagry," Samson emphasized. He urged Hon. David to prioritize the road, even if through temporary measures like grading and filling major potholes. The road, he stressed, is vital for the economic activities, health, and daily survival of Iragon residents and neighboring communities.

The appeal comes as Hon. David’s tenure nears its end, adding urgency to the request. Samson’s letter seeks to prevent future apologies or excuses, urging proactive steps instead.

"We trust in your commitment to our welfare and believe you will act swiftly," he wrote, appealing to the lawmaker’s track record of effective representation.
