The 2025 Ojude Oba Festival is set to make history as organisers project a staggering 100 million participants worldwide, making it one of the largest cultural gatherings on the planet.
The festival’s organising committee revealed the ambitious estimate during a press briefing in Abeokuta, highlighting its growing global appeal. Fassy Yusuf, the festival coordinator, stated that the event scheduled for Sunday, [exact date] in Ijebu-Ode will honor the Awujale of Ijebuland while showcasing Nigeria’s rich heritage.
While over 200,000 attendees are expected at the main pavilion in Utoro Centre, millions more will participate across Ijebu towns and Ogun State. Yusuf emphasized that digital engagement will play a massive role, with live-streaming platforms enabling millions worldwide to join the celebration virtually.
To ensure safety, a multi-agency security team including the police, military, Amotekun, and DSS will be deployed. Yusuf assured that measures are in place to prevent disruptions, calling the festival a "unifying force" for Ijebu people and a major economic driver for local businesses.
With over 200 years of history, the Ojude Oba Festival is more than just a cultural display it’s a global brand promoting Nigerian traditions. Corporate sponsors and stakeholders have thrown their weight behind the event, reinforcing its role in tourism and national pride.
