Lalude and Bola Tinubu |
Veteran Nollywood actor Fatai "Lalude" Odua has unleashed a fiery rant against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Lagos transport leader MC Oluomo, accusing them of exploiting Yoruba actors during the 2023 election campaign then abandoning them without payment.
In a viral interview on Behind the Fame, Lalude famous for his herbalist roles claimed he and over 100 colleagues campaigned tirelessly for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for nearly two months but were never compensated.
"We worked for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu… Not a kobo paid" Lalude seethed. "Those who stole our money will never prosper death will take them"
The actor pointed fingers at MC Oluomo, alleging he recruited them with false promises: "Oluomo swore he’d pay whatever we asked. Now? Silence. This debt won’t be forgiven curses await thieves"
Lalude’s outburst follows similar grievances from colleagues like Olaiya Igwe and Ganiu "Alapini Osa" Nofiu, who regret campaigning for Tinubu amid Nigeria’s economic crisis. Actress Bukky Raji (Aminatu Papapa) also publicly apologized for supporting Tinubu, calling it a "mistake."
Actors say they campaigned "with joy," believing Tinubu would uplift Nollywood. Many now face criticism from Nigerians blaming them for endorsing Tinubu’s policies. Despite alleged budget allocations, payments never reached performers.
