The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), discusses the commission’s readiness for the July 12, 2025, local government elections. With 7,060,195 registered voters and 6,214,970 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected, LASIEC is gearing up for a smooth electoral process.

To combat voter apathy, LASIEC has launched: Massive voter awareness campaigns via radio, TV, billboards, and public transport stickers. Special provisions for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), including free nomination forms. Meetings with PWD groups to ensure accessibility and participation.
The LASIEC boss emphasizes that "every vote counts" and urges residents to come out and vote. She assures, No bias winners will be declared based on results. Four security personnel per polling unit, including undercover operatives. Swift resolution of disputes through legal channels.
LASIEC clarifies that INEC, not LASIEC, designates polling locations. Only the INEC-recognized Labour Party faction will participate. LASIEC operates under state law, which recognizes 37 LCDAs for elections.
