Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) members to launch an aggressive grassroots campaign to secure victory against opposition parties in the upcoming July 12 local government elections.
The governor made the declaration at the APC Lagos West Senatorial District mega rally in Ijanikin, where he was represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for massive voter turnout to ensure APC’s dominance in the council polls.
Sanwo-Olu mocked the opposition PDP, declaring their "umbrella is torn" in Lagos. He urged APC loyalists to avoid disappointing party leaders, citing the state government’s infrastructural achievements as proof of their progressive governance.
"We must be proud of our party. Lagos is moving forward under APC. Mobilize your neighbors, use your PVCs, and ensure APC candidates win decisively," he charged.
Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, appealed to residents to reward President Bola Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu’s developmental strides with overwhelming votes. "This is our time to unite. Lagos West must show gratitude through votes," he said.
Meanwhile, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro highlighted the poll’s significance as a precursor to the 2027 general elections. Former Deputy Governor Sarah Sosan also urged women to lead voter mobilization efforts.
The rally saw attendance from top APC chieftains, lawmakers, and community leaders, signaling a united front ahead of the crucial LG polls.
