Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, has commissioned a newly constructed public toilet facility at Owode Market in Badagry-West LCDA.
The project, delivered just after the Salah celebrations, underscores the government’s commitment to improving living conditions for traders and residents in the bustling market.
The modern toilet facility was generously donated by Friends of Dina Harake Nazzal and facilitated through the RAK Development Foundation, an initiative spearheaded by Hon. Ogunlende. Addressing attendees at the commissioning, the commissioner emphasized the importance of proper sanitation in preventing diseases and promoting dignity. “This facility is more than just a convenience it’s a vital step toward safeguarding public health and ensuring a cleaner, healthier market environment,” he stated.
The Owode Market, a key trading hub in Badagry, has long faced challenges with inadequate sanitation infrastructure. The new facility is expected to significantly reduce open defecation and improve hygiene standards for thousands of daily shoppers and traders. Market leaders and community members expressed gratitude, noting that the project aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader efforts to upgrade public amenities across the state.
Hon. Ogunlende reiterated his foundation’s mission: “To quench thirst, inspire change, and empower generations.” He highlighted that the initiative goes beyond infrastructure it’s about fostering sustainable development and improving quality of life. The RAK Development Foundation has been actively involved in youth empowerment, education, and community projects, with this latest effort reinforcing its dedication to impactful interventions.
