Hon. Sewanu Wusu Oriyomi, the PDP councilorship candidate for Ward I in Badagry, Lagos State, concluded a series of heartfelt courtesy visits to traditional leaders across Iragon communities.

The tour, which spanned several weeks, was not just a political gesture but a profound call for unity, progress, and inclusive governance.

The journey began at the palace of Chief Sedowhe Francis, the Baale of Thogli Community, where Hon. Sewanu and his team were warmly received. The following week, he paid homage to Chief Kehinde Awo, the Baale of Kenwheji Community, before proceeding to Chief Semako John, the Baale of Ahlomeh-Athanmayi Community. The tour culminated on May 31, 2025, with a visit to Chief Isiaka Akingbade Akinyemi, the Baale of Iragon Community.

Each visit was marked by deep conversations, cultural reverence, and mutual pledges for community development. The traditional leaders and their cabinet members spoke glowingly of Hon. Sewanu’s integrity, humility, and longstanding commitment to public service.

Chief Kehinde Awo shared an emotional reflection, saying, “I have always dreamed of a day when someone from Iragon would rise to serve not just our community but the entire Badagry and beyond. Today, that dream feels real.” His words echoed the collective hope of many who see Hon. Sewanu’s candidacy as a turning point for the region.

Chief Semako John Kinnifo was so moved that he personally offered prayers for Hon. Sewanu and everyone present, invoking blessings for success and unity. Meanwhile, a member of Chief Isiaka Akingbade Akinyemi’s cabinet praised the candidate’s reputation, stating, “His honesty alone has won him support without him even asking for it.”

In his closing remarks, Chief Isiaka Akingbade Akinyemi urged the community to embrace this moment without division. “This progress should unite us, not create jealousy. Together, we must support a brighter future for all,” he advised.

The visits reinforced the Yoruba proverb, “Iwa ni ọba ìwúre” (Character is the king of all charms for progress). Beyond politics, the tour was a celebration of shared values, cultural pride, and a renewed belief in leadership that prioritizes the people.

As the campaign gains momentum, Hon. Sewanu Wusu Oriyomi remains committed to grassroots empowerment, ethical leadership, and sustainable development. The overwhelming endorsement from Iragon’s traditional leaders signals a strong foundation for his vision.

The message is clear: A vote for Hon. Sewanu Wusu Oriyomi is a vote for unity, progress, and a people-centered future in Ward I, Badagry.
