Medemaku Abayomi Noah the PDP Chairmanship candidate Badagry Local Government |
In a dramatic twist in the legal battle over the legitimacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate in Badagry, the letter of Augustine Kriko, the Special Adviser to the Council Chairman, Hon. Segun Onilude, has emerged as a key damning evidence against his own party.
The suit, filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate, Medemaku Abayomi Noah, challenges the eligibility of APC candidate Babatunde Hunpe, arguing that the party conducted primaries for a non-existent "Badagry Central Local Government" instead of the constitutionally recognized Badagry Local Government.

Kriko, a staunch APC member and Onilude’s aide, had earlier raised the alarm on social media, stating that the party was making a grave error by presenting Hunpe as a candidate for a "phantom" local government. His letter, now marked as Exhibit MAN E, has become a critical piece of evidence.

The suit hinges on Sections 3(6), 7(1), and (8) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which clearly define Nigeria’s local government structure with no mention of "Badagry Central."
Medemaku’s legal team argues:
Did APC actually hold a valid primary for Badagry LGA?
Can Hunpe legally run for a government that doesn’t exist?
Why did APC ignore Kriko’s warning?
While the APC has yet to respond publicly, the PDP is optimistic. Medemaku’s lawyer insists that the court must disqualify Hunpe, as his candidacy is rooted in a "constitutional absurdity."
If the court rules in Medemaku’s favor, the APC could lose its chairmanship candidate in Badagry, reshaping the political landscape ahead of the election.
For now, all eyes are on the judiciary will Hunpe’s candidacy survive this legal earthquake, or will Kriko’s evidence bury APC’s hopes in Badagry?
