Olumayowa Akinlola Abudu-Akogun and Labour Party |
Hon. Olumayowa Akinlola Abudu-Akogun, the Labour Party (LP) chairmanship candidate for Ojo Local Government in Lagos State, has assured residents of a peaceful and violence-free election in 2025.
Speaking during a strategic meeting in Ward A, Ojo Town, Abudu-Akogun condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its history of electoral violence and urged voters not t2o be intimidated.
"APC is known for violence, but this time, Ojo will be safe," declared Abudu-Akogun. He emphasized that the 2025 chairmanship election would be historic, marking a departure from the disruptions often associated with APC campaigns. "We know their tactics intimidation, thuggery, and chaos but Ojo people are peaceful and law-abiding. This time, we won’t allow violence to dictate our future," he stated.
The Labour Party candidate called on voters to come out en masse, assuring them of their safety. "Tell your family and friends: their votes will count, and their security is guaranteed," he said. Abudu-Akogun highlighted the importance of voter turnout, stressing that only a strong show of will power of the people could counter any attempts to manipulate the election.
Abudu-Akogun also pointed to the significance of leadership antecedents in politics, positioning himself as a credible alternative to the APC. "President Tinubu’s leadership at the national level and the APC’s performance in Lagos are being judged. Ojo people deserve better a leader who prioritizes peace, progress, and good governance," he remarked.
As the 2025 election approaches, political tensions in Ojo are expected to rise. However, the Labour Party candidate remains confident that voters will reject violence and embrace change. "This election will be remembered as Ojo’s most peaceful. We are ready, and the people are ready. APC’s era of fear is over," he declared.
With security and transparency as key campaign promises, Abudu-Akogun’s message is resonating with many residents. The coming months will test whether Ojo voters will indeed turn the tide against political violence and usher in a new chapter for the local government.
