Badagry, Lagos – In a bold move to revitalize education in Badagry, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, the House of Representatives Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering students and teachers through a groundbreaking education support program.
Speaking at the unveiling of his Educational Empowerment Programme, Whingan announced a multifaceted initiative impacting over 3,000 students across 75 schools featuring learning materials, new school buildings, and a free school transportation service.

Standing before educators, students, and community leaders, Whingan declared: "Badagry holds a special place in Nigeria’s educational history—it was here in 1842 that Western education began through the Wesleyan Methodist Church. As your representative, I am committed to ensuring our children have the resources to succeed. Today, we deliver on that promise."
The initiative includes: Essential learning materials (school bags, exercise books, sandals, calculators, and mathematical sets). 450 desks & benches, 756 whiteboard markers, and 1,000 giant staplers for schools. New classroom blocks at Mowo Community Secondary School, Anglican Primary School (Igbanko), and St. Leo’s Primary School (Ikoga-Zebbe). Free school buses under the "Sesi Whingan Badagry School Free Ride" initiative.

Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), praised the effort: "These are not just materials—they are tools of knowledge, empowerment, and opportunity."
Mrs. Modinat Adebayo, Badagry’s Education Secretary, added: "Hon. Whingan has consistently supported our schools. His work is transforming education here."
Hon. Samuel Sejoro, a former Reps member, urged public support: "Sesi Whingan is starting strong. Badagrians should back him for a second term to sustain this progress."
Whingan’s message to students was clear: "You are the future of Badagry and Nigeria. Study hard, stay curious, and never stop believing in yourselves."
With royal fathers, political leaders, and educators in attendance, the event marked a new chapter for Badagry’s education sector proving that with the right investments, the next generation can thrive.
