A top All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Osun State, retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinbi, has accused opposition parties of orchestrating Nigeria’s worsening security crisis to make President Bola Tinubu appear ineffective.
Adewinbi, a security expert and former Osun Amotekun Corps commander, made the claim while hosting the APC’s National Women Leader, Mary Alile, at his residence in Ede.
He alleged that opposition groups are deliberately escalating violence to destabilize Tinubu’s government and create a false impression of incompetence.
"The opposition is conspiring against President Tinubu, using every means to undermine his administration and make governance seem ineffective," Adewinbi stated.
Despite these challenges, he affirmed that Tinubu is actively engaging security chiefs and deploying advanced technology, including drones and intelligence systems, to combat banditry and terrorism.
Meanwhile, Alile, during her visit, vowed to advocate for greater female representation in government. She also urged APC leaders to consider a woman as Osun’s deputy governor in the 2026 elections.
The meeting, described as a "family affair," reinforced party unity, with Alile promising to relay members' concerns to the APC leadership in Abuja.
