The Nigerian Army’s 15 Field Engineer Regiment, Topo Barracks, Badagry, has announced a Field Training Exercise (FTX) for its trainee soldiers on Saturday, 31st May 2025.
The exercise, designed to enhance combat readiness, will involve controlled detonations of explosives within the barracks premises.
Residents and businesses in Badagry and surrounding areas may hear loud explosions during the drill. Authorities have assured the public that all safety protocols have been implemented to prevent any risks to civilians. The exercise is a routine part of military training to ensure operational efficiency.
The Nigerian Army has urged the public not to panic upon hearing the blasts. A statement from the regiment emphasized that the training is strictly confined to the barracks and poses no danger to nearby communities. Security personnel will be on standby to monitor the exercise.
This training aligns with the Nigerian Army’s commitment to improving combat engineering skills amid evolving security challenges. Field exercises like this prepare soldiers for real-life scenarios, including bomb disposal and tactical operations.
