MUSWEN Defends JAMB’s Oloyede: ‘He Deserves Praise, Not Blame for UTME Glitches

The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has declared that Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), should be applauded rather than criticized following technical issues during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

MUSWEN, the umbrella body for all Muslim groups in the South-West, expressed unwavering support for Oloyede in a press statement released on Friday. The statement was jointly signed by its President, Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Secretary, Professor Muslih-Tayo Yahya.

While acknowledging the concerns of candidates, parents, and stakeholders over the network disruptions during the exams, MUSWEN warned against hastily attacking the credibility of JAMB’s leadership.

“Prof. Oloyede has consistently proven himself as a leader of integrity, transparency, and accountability,” the statement read. “Under his leadership, JAMB has regained public trust, enhanced operational efficiency, repatriated billions of naira to the national treasury, and leveraged technology to ensure credible examinations.”

The group urged the media, civil society, and policymakers to avoid fueling negativity or enabling detractors who exploit temporary setbacks to tarnish institutions and public servants.

“Rather than condemnation, Prof. Oloyede deserves commendation for his transformative reforms,” MUSWEN emphasized. “The recent technical challenges, though unfortunate, should not overshadow his outstanding contributions. Instead, they highlight the ongoing need to strengthen Nigeria’s institutions.”

MUSWEN called for calm and urged stakeholders to support JAMB’s efforts to improve examination processes.

“In the spirit of fairness, we encourage constructive engagement and systemic reinforcement for JAMB to sustain its reforms,” the statement concluded. “May Allah (SWT) continue to guide and protect public servants dedicated to national progress.”
