Lagos Youth Commissioner Mobolaji Ogunlende Advocates Inclusivity and Active Engagement

Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping Nigeria’s future at the Gen Zs Involvement in a New Nigeria (GINN 4.0) Summit. 


The event, themed “Rewriting the Nigerian Story, Building the Future, Becoming the Future,” took place at the prestigious MUSON Centre, Onikan, attracting young entrepreneurs, professionals, and thought leaders for impactful discussions.  


The summit served as a vital convergence for Nigeria’s emerging leaders to address pressing socio-economic challenges and explore innovative solutions. Hon. Ogunlende reiterated the Lagos State Government’s dedication to fostering youth development, inclusivity, and accessibility key pillars of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.  


“Participation in GINN 4.0 reaffirms our commitment to empowering Lagos youth,” Ogunlende stated. “We must engage actively, promote inclusivity, and relentlessly pursue a future where young people are not just beneficiaries but architects of progress.”


1. Active & Accessible Leadership – The commissioner highlighted the government’s open-door policy, encouraging youth participation in policy-making.  

2. Inclusivity in Development – Strategies to ensure marginalized groups have equal opportunities were discussed.  

3. Future-Ready Youth – Initiatives to equip young Nigerians with skills for a rapidly evolving economy took center stage.  


With over 60% of Nigeria’s population under 25, summits like GINN 4.0 are crucial in harnessing youth potential for national growth. Hon. Ogunlende’s presence underscores Lagos State’s proactive stance in aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) and Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG 8).  


The commissioner assured continued collaboration with private and public stakeholders to expand youth-centric programs, including entrepreneurship grants, mentorship schemes, and digital skills training.
