Youths Threaten Nationwide Protest as Party Leaders Ignore Zoning Agreement in Ward A
Badagry, Lagos – Tension is brewing in Ward A of Badagry Local Government as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Posukoh Zone youths rise against alleged political manipulation, demanding their rightful turn to produce the next councillor.
According to a strongly worded statement issued by the Posukoh Youth, the councilorship position was initially zoned to their area following the tenure of Jegba Zone, as per a prior party agreement. However, they claim that some political leaders are now pushing for Jegba to retain the position, disregarding the zoning arrangement for selfish interests.
A Betrayal of Trust?
The group revealed that they had remained patient and respectful, adhering to party directives to maintain peace. Despite formally notifying the APC leadership about the breach of the zoning agreement, no action has been taken, leaving them feeling sidelined and disenfranchised.
"We have waited patiently, but our silence is being taken for weakness," the statement read. "It is our turn to produce the councillor for Ward A, and we will not allow a few individuals to hijack our mandate."
Threat of Nationwide Action
Frustrated by the lack of response, the Posukoh Youth have vowed to escalate their agitation, warning of nationwide publicity and protests if their demands are ignored.
"We shall not be silenced. If the party fails to act, we will make our grievances known across Nigeria. The zoning agreement must be respected," the statement declared.
Call for Urgent Intervention
The group is now calling on the APC leadership at state and national levels to intervene and ensure fairness. They emphasized their desire to resolve the matter amicably but warned that they are prepared to take drastic measures if justice is not served.
"We urge our leaders to do the right thing. Posukoh Zone deserves this opportunity, and we will fight for it," the statement concluded.
As the political standoff intensifies, all eyes are on the APC to address the brewing crisis before it escalates further.
