Elections 2025: LASIEC Announces Full Timeline & Guidelines

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially declared Saturday, July 12, 2025, as the date for the much-anticipated local government elections across the state. 

The announcement was confirmed in a public statement by LASIEC’s Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Tope Ojo, on Thursday.  

Under Section 21 of the LASIEC Law 2008 (as amended), the Commission has issued a Notice of Election for Chairmen and Councilors in all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 376 wards in Lagos.  

 

- Political Campaigns: Kick off Friday, April 18, 2025, and end Wednesday, July 9, 2025.  

- Stakeholders’ Meeting: LASIEC will meet with registered political parties on Tuesday, April 15.  

- Guidelines Publication: Official election rules will be released on Thursday, April 17.  

- Nomination Forms Submission: Open from June 18 to June 25, 2025, for substituted or confirmed candidates.  

- Possible Run-Off: In case of unresolved results, a re-run election is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025.
