NEITI Vows to Track Oil, Gas & Mining Revenue Spending

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that revenues from Nigeria’s oil, gas, and mining sectors benefit all citizens. 


The agency pledged to intensify efforts in tracking revenue flows, exposing hidden ownership structures, and enforcing contract transparency to curb corruption.  


At a media briefing in Abuja, NEITI’s Executive Secretary, Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, outlined key achievements, including: Enhanced Beneficial Ownership Disclosures Unmasking hidden interests to fight corruption.  


Upgraded NEITI Reports – Now covering contract transparency, environmental impacts, and real-time data.  


Reconstituted National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) – Led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for stronger oversight.

  

New NEITI Data Centre – Automating extractive sector data for public access and compliance with global EITI standards.  


Orji also revealed that the Inter-Ministerial Task Team on NEITI’s recommendations—dormant for seven years—has been revived with director-level members to drive policy enforcement.
