A 22-year-old fuel station supervisor, Prosper Ese, has been arraigned before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over allegations of stealing ₦1,256,400 from his employer.

Ese, whose residential address remains undisclosed, faces charges of theft and fraud. He, however, pleaded not guilty.

According to prosecutor ASP Edet Ekpo, the incident occurred on March 2 at Arigbabuwo Petrol Filling Station, located in Oko-Afo, Badagry.

The accused allegedly misappropriated ₦1,056,400 from the station’s sales proceeds and deceitfully obtained an additional ₦200,000 from a woman named Aisat Folorunsho under false pretenses. He was reportedly apprehended while trying to escape.

The prosecution emphasized that these actions violate Sections 287 and 311 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws (2015).

Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate N.A. Layeni granted the defendant bail set at ₦1 million, requiring two sureties in the same amount. The case has been adjourned until April 16 for further proceedings.
