David Umahi the minister of works has visited Lagos-Badagry Expressway, which is now being rehabilitated and expanded to six lanes, and expected to be completed in April.
David Umahi, Minister of Works, revealed this during an inspection trip of the highway on Thursday.
Umahi stated that the 46-kilometer stretch, the first piece of the ECOWAS road between Seme Border and Abidjan, would be completed for President Bola Tinubu's inauguration to honor his second year in office.
According to the minister, the contractor in charge of the project received N50 billion of the N71 billion contract payment.
According to him, the contractor has showed a high level of ability to complete the project on schedule.
Umahi stated, "The contractor has been paid approximately N50 billion; therefore, the remaining amount to complete the job is N21 billion."
"We have set a meeting with the contractor to discuss how to complete the remaining four to five km by April 20th.
Umahi further stated that the second part, which ends at Seme Border, would be completed with concrete surface.
He stated that a proposal would be made for the border states to complete their sections of the ECOWAS highway project, which would end at Abidjan.
The Minister of Works praised the President for working on about 270 inherited projects across the country.
He stated that the projects were scheduled to be inaugurated in May
