Seven persons sustained varying degrees of injury on Friday night in an accident involving a V-waggon commercial bus and a Toyota Camry car along Ibereko on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway
The accident occurred at about 9:40 pm at sawmill bus stop area of Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos State.
An eyewitness who spoke with News Peddlers said the bus going to roundabout was trying to overtake a trailer, leading to a head-on collision with the car coming from Badagry.
The driver of the car, who refused to disclose his name to our journalist, said, Thank God I was not speeding if not, the accident would have been more fatal. When I saw the bus coming towards my direction, I didn't know what to do. I was about to climb the barricade beside the road but could not.
The unit commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. William Manga, said that a V-waggon commercial bus with registration number AGL 867 YA coming from Badagry lost control while making a U-turn, leading to a head-on collision with a Toyota Camry car bus with number plate KRD 232 HD coming from Mile 2.
The driver of the bus was said to have sustained serious injuries and couldn't walk but was rushed to the nearby hospital.
“24 persons were involved in the accident, with four men and three women sustaining varying degrees of injury,” Williams said.
