Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon, the National Vice-President Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN), has inducted Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Oyo State.
This was done on Tuesday in a courtesy visit to the office of the commissioner in Oyo State.
Apata appreciated the burning passion of the commissioner towards tourism development and how he had been determined to leave a lasting impact in the industry.
"We are inducting you today as a member of this great association, ATPN, Oyo State Chapter, and I want to request that this office be the seat of this association so our working relationship can be stronger in making destination Oyo work more beyond imagination," Apata said.
The commissioner highlighted the infrastructural development that Governor Seyi Makinde has put in place to enhance tourism.
Governor Makinde has constructed roads to connect all the zones of Oyo State, which will give you access to any part of the state without wasting time. Places you go before in 1 hour 45 minutes is now accessible within just 45 minutes.
He added that his office has introduced the Egungun Festival to Oyo State in order to preserve the culture of the people, encouraging the people to be part and proud of their culture as it is part of their identity.
"We need to know that our culture has suffered a lot, and it's high time we knew that culture and traditions are two different things that our people have mixed up over time", Wasiu said.
