Hon. Setonji David has emerged as the Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, following the impeachment of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on charges of financial misappropriation and gross misconduct.
Posu Davies, the Setonji's media aide, made the announcement on Friday via his official Facebook page.
Posu said, "Hon. Engr. Setonji David has been appointed as the Chief Whip of the 10th Assembly today at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
"Prior to this new appointment, Hon. David served as the Deputy Chief Whip, where he demonstrated his leadership skills and dedication to the legislative process.
"As Chief Whip, he will be responsible for maintaining party discipline and coordinating the legislative agenda.
Mojisola Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency I, has already been sworn in as the new Speaker, making history as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Hon. Bonu Solomon, Member Lagos State House of Assembly, Badagry Constituency Congratulations has congratulated Hon. Engr. Setonji David on his appointment. "Badagry is proud to have a voice in this prestigious position," Bonu said.
It is anticipated that Hon. Setonji David's appointment as Chief Whip will provide stability and leadership to the position as the Assembly navigates this new era. All eyes are on the new leadership to rebuild confidence in the Assembly as the fallout from Obasa's impeachment continues.
