Green Janitors Sustainable Initiatives has got another award at the 2024 Badagry Social Media Award, after the first award in 2019, for being the leading environmental sustainable and climate action organisation in Badagry, Lagos State.
The organisation was recognized as the best used of social media for social good in advocating for climate action at the Badagry Social Media Award 2024.
Asade Abdulsalam, the Executive director, in a statement made available to News Peddlers said "As we kick off another promising year, we are proud to reflect on a significant milestone—Green Janitors was once again honored with the prestigious Best Use of Social Media for Social Good/NGO award by CityMood Badagry. This award, recognizing our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action, holds special meaning for us, as it marks the beginning of a journey that has shaped our path since 2019.
"When we first received this accolade in 2019, it was a testament to the power of our collective vision: to use digital platforms to inspire environmental responsibility and drive positive social change. In the years that have followed, we have continued to build upon that foundation, earning this recognition five times—each time further solidifying our role as leaders in the movement for a more sustainable and equitable world.
"Our consistent success in these awards is a reflection not just of our innovative approach to sustainability, but also of our ability to engage, educate, and empower a global community through social media. Through powerful storytelling, collaborative campaigns, and thought leadership, we have cultivated a growing network of passionate individuals and organizations committed to creating meaningful environmental and societal change.
"However, while these accolades are humbling, we know that our impact goes far beyond any recognition or award. The true heart of Green Janitors lies in the tireless dedication of our volunteers, whose selflessness and hard work have made our mission possible. These are the unsung heroes who contribute their time, skills, and energy, often without fanfare, to carry out the groundwork that drives real change. It is their passion, commitment, and shared sense of responsibility for the planet and future generations that empowers us to keep pushing forward.
"We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our volunteers, partners, and community members, and we are confident that, together, we can continue making a meaningful difference.
"Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Here’s to many more years of progress, impact, and sustainability," he said.
