The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Gombe State has announced the remobilization of 21 corps members who abandoned their duty posts during the service year.

Chinwe Nwachuku, the NYSC State Coordinator, made this announcement during the Passing-Out Parade for the 2024 Batch "A" Stream 1 corps members on Thursday.

According to Nwachuku, the affected individuals absconded for over three months, leading to their mandatory remobilization. Additionally, 16 other corps members faced disciplinary actions for infractions such as unauthorized travel, absenteeism from community development service (CDS), and failure to participate in NYSC-mandated activities.

She emphasized that all concerned members appeared before the NYSC disciplinary committee before sanctions were imposed.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,268 corps members successfully completed their service year. The NYSC Coordinator commended their dedication to community development and their contributions to various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and other developmental projects across the state.

"Your impact in Gombe State will always be remembered," Nwachuku stated. "You have played a vital role in nation-building while also gaining valuable insights into the state's rich culture and traditions. I hope this fosters greater unity and national integration."

She urged the outgoing corps members to uphold the NYSC motto, "Service and Humility," and become positive change agents in society. Furthermore, she encouraged them to leverage the entrepreneurial skills acquired during the service year to create self-employment opportunities instead of solely relying on white-collar jobs.
