The Lagos State Government, through its Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse (LASKADA) initiative under the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, has intensified its efforts to combat drug abuse by mobilizing over 57 volunteers across various Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

A significant milestone in the state's advocacy for drug prevention was the volunteer orientation held at the Conference Room (T-Block) in Alausa, Ikeja.

The Ministry of Youth and Social Development introduced this initiative to address the increasing issue of substance abuse in Lagos schools and public spaces.

Special guest CN Abubakar Liman Wali, the NDLEA-Lagos State Commander, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable change. Discussions focused on innovative strategies for drug prevention, highlighting the critical role of community volunteers in raising awareness and driving grassroots efforts.

Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK), the Chief Host and Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, underscored the need for a collective approach to tackling drug abuse. He reaffirmed the government's dedication to social inclusion and well-being, stating, "Ensuring a drug-free Lagos is a shared responsibility, and this initiative demonstrates our commitment to protecting our youth and communities."

Key stakeholders participated in the event, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pharm. (Mrs.) Zainab Oluwatoyin Oke-Osanyintolu, representatives from the NDLEA and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and Comrade Billiaminu Oba, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Development.

Through LASKADA, the state continues to foster a united stand against drug abuse, ensuring a safer and healthier environment for all residents.
