Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, the House of Representatives Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, has visited Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the Acting Managing Director and CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), in a continued effort to address the electricity challenges facing rural communities in Badagry, Lagos State.

The meeting was held on Monday, October 20, 2024, following the recent four-day survey conducted by REA officials across several rural areas in Badagry.

The engagement was part of Sesi's ongoing commitment to ensuring that the communities in his constituency benefit from national rural electrification projects. The recent REA survey was aimed at identifying the specific needs of the constituency, particularly in areas where access to electricity remains limited or nonexistent.

Speaking after the meeting, Sesi emphasized the importance of collaboration with REA to bring sustainable electricity solutions to the constituency. "The completion of the REA survey in Badagry is a critical step forward in our mission to ensure that every community, no matter how remote, has access to electricity. I am confident that the outcomes of these engagements will bring significant progress in addressing the power supply issues that have long affected our people," he stated.

Aliyu reiterated the organization dedicated to supplying electricity to marginalised communities and stated that the information gathered from the survey would direct the execution of upcoming electrification initiatives in Badagry.

The meeting represents a significant turning point in the rural electrification effort, and as both sides continue to collaborate closely to make these plans a reality, the residents of Badagry can anticipate observable outcomes.
