Lagos Commissioner Ogunlende, NYCN Olorunda mourns the death of 24 years old Oluwaseyi

Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the commissioner for youth and social development, has sent condolences to the relatives of Bababusola Oluwaseyi, a 24-year-old lady who died in Badagry, Lagos State.


The death of Oluwaseyi was made public on Wednesday by her friends on Facebook, leading to mourning through the community as she remains one of the youths that had made more impact in the community.


The death of Oluwaseyi came as a shock to the people of Badagry and its environment, as people said to have seen her a day before her death was announced.


Ogunlende took to his official X handle on Friday to express how bad he felt about the demise of the passionate and industrious lady.


"The sudden passing of Bababusola Oluwaseyi Omodandola, a shining star in the sustainability movement, has left us heartbroken. Her tireless efforts to drive sustainability and combat climate change inspired countless individuals, and her legacy will continue to empower generations.


"My heart goes out to her loved ones, to whom I offer my sincerest condolences during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the memories and impact she leaves behind," the commissioner said.


Oluwaseyi Babusola Omodandola was a vibrant and purpose-driven young leader whose vision was to create a community of God-fearing youths. Through her organization, Reaching Hands, she worked tirelessly to provide opportunities, mentorship, and support to youths and undeserved communities. Her efforts were not only aimed at individual transformation but at fostering a generation of young people committed to positive change.


A strong advocate for environmental sustainability, Oluwaseyi also made her mark as an environmental ambassador. She led a team in Akwa Ibom during the World Clean Up Day 2022, showcasing her commitment to creating a healthier and cleaner environment. Her leadership in this global movement was to tackle waste pollution, and she also inspired many to take action in their own communities. She was also awarded as the 2024 Miss Climate Action Nigeria and also won a pageant competition as the Nigeria Most Beautiful Girl in 2022.


During the COVID-19 lockdown, she had a great impact in Badagry as she and other young Badagryians helped in educating the people about the safety precautions and measures and also helped in making and distributing hand sanitizers to the people of Badagry. 


Oluwaseyi was known for a warm heart, kindness, and readiness to help others. Her passion for volunteering and making an impact was evident in every aspect of her life. Whether through youth outreach, community development, or environmental activism, she left an indelible mark on those around her. She was a beacon of hope and an inspiration to countless young people.


Her organization, Reaching Hands, became a symbol of her mission to build a better world. Under her guidance, the non-profit touched the lives of many, providing critical support to those in need and empowering young people to become leaders in their own right. Her compassion and unwavering dedication to uplifting others have left a lasting legacy that will continue to shape the organization’s future.


In a statement, the Reaching Hands Foundation expressed their profound sadness at Oluwaseyi’s passing: “Oluwaseyi was young, vibrant, bold, and gentle. She was always ready to make an impact wherever she went. Her love and care for others knew no bounds, and she was a multi-talented, purpose-driven woman who touched so many lives.”


As the community mourns the loss of such a remarkable individual, her family, friends, and colleagues are comforted by the knowledge that her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and in the mission she built. A Night of Tribute and Honor has also been organized to celebrate Oluwaseyi’s life, service to humanity, and her legacy by her Committee of Friends to hold tomorrow, 6th September, 2024 by 4pm at Badagry Marina. 


Her life of service is a reminder to us all that even in the face of great loss, the impact of a compassionate heart can transcend generations. Oluwaseyi Bababusola’s memory will forever inspire those committed to making the world a better place. May her soul rest in perfect peace.

"Seyi was more than just a colleague; she was a beacon of hope, an industrious and hardworking individual whose commitment to humanity was unwavering. Her dedication to the empowerment of the girl child and her ability to inspire the younger generation to dream big is a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.


Seyi’s impact was far-reaching. She was the Pioneer Miss Climate Change Nigeria, a title that exemplified her passion for environmental sustainability. As a dedicated volunteer of the Green Janitor Sustainable Initiative, she worked tirelessly to promote ecological awareness and action, and equally, her creative spirit shone through in her work as the Creative Director of Isedola Crafts, where she brought beauty and innovation to life."


Until this story was gathered, the cause of death of Oluwaseyi was not clear to the public.
