Dismissed soldier, 15NA/74/4422F Lcpl Jonah Comfort, who was accused of stealing N35 million jewellery. has confessed to her sister, Jonah Jennifer, the cause of her travails with the General and his wife.

In an earlier report made by News Peddlers Comfort was said to have committed the offence earlier in May. Who is now in police custody with N3 million bail conditions.

Olumayowa Abudu, a military veteran and former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant, who investigated the matter, said, Comfort is undergoing persecution, not prosecution, in the hands of retired General Monday Ali. The truth is, the soldier was once orderly to the General's wife, but that is no longer the case as she left the General about two years ago.

Jennifer, who spoke with Olumayowa, revealed the conversation she had with Comfort while in prison, "While Gen. Monday Ali was serving as the Commander of 4 SF in Doma, Nassarawa State, from 2021 to 2022, upon his departure, he emptied the account and brought a large sum of cash to their Abuja home, where Comfort was residing with them. One evening, Gen. Ali arrived with approximately three 'Ghana must go' bags full of money, which she witnessed. However, Gen. Ali was unhappy about Comfort seeing the money.

"Comfort discussed her concerns about the money with 09NA/63 Cpl Ibrahim Nafada, a soldier working in the house, who relayed the message to General Ali. This angered the General against Comfort. Later, Gen. Ali was given funds to purchase plasma TVs and freezers for the officer's quarters but diverted them to his personal use, storing them in Abuja with his brother, a professor. Comfort reported this to the same soldier, who again informed General Ali, escalating the tension.

"The matter was eventually petitioned to the late chief of Army staff, Lt Gen Attahiru, by one Brig Gen Abdulraham, who took over from General Ali, the late COAS, Gen Attahiru, was investigating the matter before his fatal plane crash. While Gen. Ali and his wife were celebrating when they heard of his death, Gen. Attahiru, Comfort, cautioned them to remember that the deceased was a family man. The wife of Gen. Ali became bitter about Comfort's statement and told Comfort to leave the house if she wasn't happy about their joy, leading to her departure. The soldier who relayed their conversations he had with Comfort to Gen. Ali is still working with them, but all others who knew about these incidents have been sent away.

"The genesis of the problem between Comfort and Gen. Ali's wife was her statement during the celebration of Attahiru's death. She wondered why they were celebrating a fellow man's demise, reminding them that he had a family depending on him. The wife's bitterness towards her statement led to her eventual removal from the house." Jennifer said.

Olumayowa added that "we are calling on the Army to investigate this matter further in other to make sure justice is served and Comfort should not be convicted for a crime she may not have. committed. As we speak petitions are on the move to the appropriate offices to ensure that justice is served we would like to know much about the situation in due time."
