The Nigerian Navy Firemen has assisted the Federal Fire Service to prevent a fire outbreak at UTC Shopping Plaza Abuja.
The Nigerian Navy (NN) Firemen, a sub-unit of Naval Headquarters Garki Abuja, were called to action yesterday, April 15, 2024, and helped avert what would have been a massive inferno at the popular UTC Shopping Plaza in Garki.
An eyewitness said the fire outbreak was caused by an electric spark in a shop at the Plaza, which would have raised the entire Plaza.
"An electric spark in one of the plaza shops ignited the fire outbreak, with the potential to consume many other shops and properties. However, as the fire surged, the NN Firemen were called in to assist the Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the National Defence College (NDC) Fire Service in fighting the flames," the eyewitness said.
On arrival, the NN FireMen swung into action, and the situation was brought under control.
No lives were lost, and damage to properties was limited.
