Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the commissioner of youths and sports in Lagos State and the pioneer RAK Development Foundation, has supported the second phase of youth empowerment training at Badagry West Youths Academy (BYA).
This was disclosed on Monday to the newsmen by David Sunday Aladeotan, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Badagry West Local Branch Coordinator.
Aladeotan said Badagry West Youth Academy is an initiative of NYCN Badagry West Local Branch aimed at empowering and building youth skills and making them responsible for themselves and their families.
In the first phase, 60 participants were registered, where 20 graduated successfully, and they were empowered. "Now we are embarking on 12 weeks of ICT training on graphic design, Google Docs, Microsoft Office, etc.,
"This project will commence soon since it has been approved by Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, so we are shouting out to him for the great responsibility as far as youth development is concerned. We also appreciate Hon. Gbenu Henungbe Joseph, the executive chairman of Badagry West LCDA, for his interest in building the youth and his responsibility to the youth constituency as far as Badagry is concerned. This project is the second phase of Badagry West Youth Academy, and the training will commence soon," Aladeotan said.
RAK Foundation donated N400,000 as training grants for the programme. This will be used to procure the required tools for the training and cover the training fee with materials.
He added that "We will still be engaging because our plan is that at the end of the training, participants will be empowered with a laptop each to start their personal business."
Atonia Balekan, the representative of RAK Foundation, said, "As we know that the world is evolving into the digital world,and the youths are the present and also the future,we hope to use this training to harness potential and capabilities through ICT, and we hope to bring significant changes and values.".
