Badagry International Film, Cultural, and Sports Festival (BIFIF) commended President Bola Tinubu on his recent appointments in the film industry.

In a statement released on Saturday in Lagos, Mr Viyon Awhanse, the festival's Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said the President had made one of his best decisions in the industry.

According to him, President Tinubu has done the right thing by putting square pegs in square holes with this appointment.

“The appointment of actor Nuhu Ali as Director General, National Film Corporation and Hussein Shaibu as Director of Nigeria Film and Censors Board (NFVCB) are the best for development of this industry.

"These people have for many years, proven that they understand the film art in Nigeria and its progressive development," he went on to say.

Awhanse stated that so far in the film industry, the President has chosen experts in their respective fields.

He stated that BIFIF remains proud of the Tinubu administration's accomplishments and achievements thus far.

The founder, however, urged Tinubu to assist in developing Badagry as Nigeria's film town, where Nollywood films would be produced.

According to him, the ancient town has all of the potential to become this with the help of the Federal Government.

Recall that on January 12, President Tinubu appointed 11 new CEOs for agencies under the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy.
