On Sunday, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, emphasized that her husband, President Bola Tinubu, is not a magician. She made this statement during her address at an interdenominational church service held in Abuja to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.

The event, themed "Christ in You, the Hope of Glory," provided a platform for reflection on the nation’s journey and future.

Mrs. Tinubu explained that the current administration inherited the challenges facing the country and is committed to addressing them without casting blame on previous governments.

“We inherited situations that have developed over many years. Our focus is not to point fingers at past administrations but to fix what has been broken,” she stated.

She further stressed, “My husband is not a magician. He is committed to working diligently, and I believe and hope that we will achieve peace in this nation. The best is yet to come for Nigeria.”

The First Lady also highlighted the importance of good governance, noting that its impact depends on the people’s willingness to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ. She urged Nigerians to embody the fruits of the spirit, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

“A Nigeria of abundance has begun. To partake in the greatness God has started in our nation, Nigerians must look beyond their current circumstances and renew their hope,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu encouraged citizens to remain steadfast in the face of challenges, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Christ. Quoting Matthew 11:28, she said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

She concluded on a hopeful note, saying, “In times like these, we must keep our hope alive—the lively hope that Jesus Christ has birthed in us.”

Her remarks underscored the administration’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s challenges while calling for unity, faith, and perseverance among citizens.
