Aishatu 'Binani' Ahmed has requested that the Federal High Court's Abuja Division immediately accept her as the governor-elect of Adamawa.

Ms. Ahmed said that even if it was unlawful, her declaration as the winner of the state's governorship race should remain as she had complied with all constitutional criteria as a candidate.

The Independent National Electoral Commission swiftly annulled Ms. Ahmed's declaration on Sunday, claiming that its commissioner in Adamawa had unexpectedly gone rogue and declared Ms. Ahmed the winner even though he was not the returning officer and while the votes were still being tallied.

Ms. Ahmed argued that the court should promptly reconsider INEC's annulment of the exercise in the lawsuit she filed on April 17 in conjunction with her party, the All Progressives Congress, and bearing the case number FHC/ABJ/CS/510/2023. She claimed that the electoral office lacked the authority to revoke a declaration.

If the electoral office and current Governor Ahmadu Fintiri are unhappy with the Sunday morning's illegal declaration, Ms. Ahmed advised them to file objections with the election petitions tribunal.

The rogue REC Hudu Yunusa-Ari was immediately suspended by INEC after it claimed the authority to overturn an illegal decision.

According to federal election laws, INEC has the authority to review the declaration and return within seven days if the commission determines that they were not made voluntarily or in violation of the law, election manual provisions, or regulations.

Due to widespread disapproval of Mr. Yunusa-Ari's actions and calls for his arrest, federal authorities have not complied. The federal government and every security and law enforcement organisation in the nation are under the control of Ms. Binani's party, the APC.

The State Security Service, the police, and other organisations have refrained from commenting on Mr. Yunusa-Ari's whereabouts or what they're doing to track him down and prosecute him for generating uncertainty. The rogue official's actions have been denounced by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party as a coup against Nigeria's democracy.
