Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old Chrisland School student, died from asphyxia and electrocution, according to the Lagos State Government.
This was stated in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos by the office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN.
According to the statement, the post-mortem report issued by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on Wednesday revealed that the deceased died as a result of asphyxia and electrocution.
The statement went on to say that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, or DPP, had been directed to issue legal advice on the matter immediately.
"The Lagos State Government expresses condolences to the deceased family while assuring Lagosians that anyone found culpable will be charged immediately in court," said the statement.
According to the NAN, Mr. Onigbanjo ordered a coroner's inquest on Feb. 13 to determine the cause of death of the late Whitney, who died during the school's inter-house sports on Feb. 9.
