Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri condemned the destruction of electoral materials in four wards of Ogbia Local Government Area's Constituency 2 on Saturday in Yenagoa.
Armed thugs allegedly stole voting materials from Wards 2, 3, 4, and 5 during the House of Assembly elections in the local government area early Saturday.
It was also reported that the materials were burned.
Mr Diri condemned the act and warned those responsible for any form of electoral violence in the state to stop immediately or face the full force of the law.
The Bayelsa governor urged police to apprehend the perpetrators and bring those found guilty to justice.
He emphasised that the state government despises all forms of criminality, particularly electoral violence, which prevents voters from exercising their right to vote.
Mr Diri reiterated his position that elections should be about ballots, not bullets, because this is not a war zone.
