Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been re-elected as governor of Lagos.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mr. Sanwo-Olu, 57, the winner of the March 18 election on Monday morning at the commission's collation centre in Yaba, Lagos.
At around 1:00 a.m., Adenike Oladiji, the state collation officer, announced the results of the All Progressives Congress candidate and 15 other participants in Lagos.
Mr. Sanwo-Olu received 762,134 votes in 19 local government areas, defeating Labour Party candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who received 312,329 votes winning one local government area.
Mr. Olajide "Jandor" Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party came in third with 62,449 votes.
Mr. Sanwo-Olu has been re-elected as governor of Lagos state, following the collation of results from the state's 20 LGAs.
The 19 LGAs won by Mr. Sanwo-Olu include Apapa, Ikeja, Somolu, Eti-Osa, Oshodi-Isolo, Kosofe, Ojo, Badagry, Epe, Alimosho, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Agege, Ibeju-Lekki, Surulere, and Mushin.
Mr. Rhodes-Vivour was victorious in Amuwo-Odofin.
The total number of permanent voter cards (PVCs) collected was 6,214,970, while registered voters totaled 7,060,195.
Lagos, a ruling party stronghold, was lost during the presidential elections on February 25, with Labour's Peter Obi defeating APC's Bola Tinubu, who was later declared the winner of the contentious election.
