According to the Oyo State Police Command, 11 suspects were apprehended with nine dry human skulls, one fresh human head, intestines, and other vital body parts.

SP Adewae Osifeso, the command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), revealed this to journalists on Thursday in Ibadan.

Mr Osifeso, who stated that the suspects were apprehended in their hideout in Ibadan's Orita-Aperin area, also stated that 16 others were apprehended in connection with alleged kidnapping and armed robbery.

He explained that a police monitoring unit's discreet intelligence gathering on Feb. 22 uncovered the suspects' criminal activities.

The suspects, he claimed, specialised in selling human skulls and other organs for ritual purposes.

According to the PPRO, all 11 members of the criminal gang confessed to the crime during interrogation.

He claimed that the suspects admitted to taking dry human skulls from corpses at burial grounds.

He also stated that they admitted to harvesting fresh human heads and other body organs from people who had been killed by their kingpin, simply identified as Amuludun, who is now at large.

Mr. Osifeso stated that an investigation was underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects, and that any further developments would be communicated to the public later.

Meanwhile, one of the suspects, the wife of the main suspect, said she recognised her husband as an Islamic cleric and was surprised when the human skulls were discovered in his office.

She claimed she went to her husband's office to get money for food when the police arrived and searched the office where the skulls were discovered.

According to the command's spokesman, seven suspected armed robbers who invaded Felele community in Ibadan with guns and other dangerous weapons were apprehended.

Mr. Osifeso stated that the victims raised the alarm as the armed robbers fled, and that the alarm drew the attention of a police monitoring unit, which apprehended the suspects.
