The nationwide registration for the 2023 Direct Entry (DE) has been suspended indefinitely, according to a statement from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin.
The deadline for registering for this year's DE is April 20. Registration opened on February 20.
However, according to the statement from JAMB, the suspension will begin on February 21 and will last until further notice.
In order to "enable the deployment of specific measures, which are designed to better serve prospective candidates," the board stated that the suspension was necessary.
It also stated that new registration procedures and a new date would be disclosed soon.
"As a result, the Board stated that a new date and fresh registration procedures, which will include uploading of JAMB admission letter in the case of OND and NCE, admission letter issued by universities in the case of university diploma, and admission letter issued by A' Level examination bodies (IJMBE, JUPEB, etc.)," the statement reads.
"It should be noted that the board began DE registration on Monday, February 20, 2023, and scheduled it to end on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
"Candidates should also be aware that only JAMB offices have the authority to register them for Direct Entry."
The board previously stated that it has registered over 1.5 million candidates for the UTME in 2023.
