Abubakar Malami the Nigerian Attorneys General |
Tinubu campaign spokesman has said Abubakar Malami the Nigerian Attorneys General is a public enemy who follows in the footsteps of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
Bayo Onanuga, the campaign's spokesperson, stated in a tweet that Mr Malami is a "public enemy like Emefiele.
Mr Onanuga was responding to the preliminary objection filed by the justice minister through his lawyers Mahmud Magaji and Tijanni Gazali, asking the Supreme Court of Nigeria to dismiss the suit filed by three northern governors to stop the CBN's naira redesign policy from being implemented.
Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara had petitioned the Supreme Court to stop the implementation of the naira redesign policy on the grounds that the notice timeline was too short and did not meet the reasonable notice requirement imposed by law.
The governors also charged the presidency with failing to do enough to ease the transition of the notes.
The regime of President Muhammadu Buhari has argued that the Supreme Court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case.
The AGF also claimed that the "plaintiffs have similarly failed to establish a reasonable cause of action against the defendant."
