Mr. Toviho Olayemi Monday |
Mr. Toviho Olayemi Monday a People Democratic Party “PDP”
House of Representatives aspirant, Badagry federal constituency, have
approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria seated at Abuja to demand Justice on
the outcome of the party’s primary election on Monday.
The PDP Primary election held on the 22nd of May, 2022 was
laced with several irregularities which resulted in a rerun on the 6th
June 2022.
Mr. Monday was initially declared the winner of the PDP House of Reps. primary election, but after the rerun which a report said did not hold, Mr. Lebile Adekunle was declared the winner.

This prompted Mr. Monday to have previously
approached the High Court and Appeal Court
separately, and has further proceeded to the Supreme Court on Monday to seek
redress for the anomaly in result.
In an exclusive interview with News Peddler, Mr. Monday said all he is seeking for is Justice and that the vice if Badagry people must count.
"I won the first and the second primary election but at the
end of the day, they erroneously declared another person as the winner, which was
why I wrote a petition to the national secretariat where an appeal panel was set
up, and we all appeared before the panel.
"Each candidate went there with delegates that voted for us,
during the election the total number of the delegates is 34, about 30 of them
followed me to Ikeja, to appear before the appeal panel.
"The Appeal Panel declared me the winner but some elements within the party substituted my name with another candidates name," Mr. Monday said.
Mr. Monday further asserted that "Although, some of them confessed to me that they did it to witch-hunt
Hon. Kosh, the current deputy national Secretary, but that’s not really my
concern.
"The point is that I won the primary election and my name was
substituted with someone else’s name, that was why I approached the Federal High Court but the court ruled in favor of Mr. Lebile. This gave me a glimpse of the rot in
our judiciary system and because of the outcome I went to the Appeal court, where
I was likewise dissatisfied with the outcome."
This is why I went to the Supreme Court" adding that the incident has set a bad precedent for Badagry and "this is not good for Badagry.
"That is why I am fighting for justice and an injustice to
one is an injustice to all. From what we are experiencing now my legal team has
looked into the outcome of the Appeal Court and has asserted that the judgment
should not stand and that was why we are challenging it in the Supreme Court.
One of the major reasons I have decided to pursue
Justice is because I was the only person that went around for campaign before the
primaries, to canvas for vote and somebody just sat down somewhere and think he
could go through the back door to upturn the wishes of the people," he said.
Speaking with Brr. Abayomi Medemaku a lawyer and PDP stakeholder said “anyone has the right to approach any court and on this matter, the case has got to the apex court and anything the Supreme court says now is
the final.
"He has the grounds of appeal and has the reasons for taking
it that far so anything he does, I wish him luck.
"Since the matter is before the court already I know the court
will decide either in his favor or not," Abayomi added.
