Okada Rider Sentence to Life In Prison for Raping 21-years-old

Jamiu Adegesin, 29 years old was sentenced to life in prison for raping a 21-year-old woman, by the Abeokuta High Court sentenced on Thursday.

  

Mr Adegesin, who had pleaded not guilty to a single count of rape, was found guilty of forcibly having sexual relations with the 21-year-old.

In her decision, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, Chief Judge of Ogun, stated that all evidence presented before the court by the prosecution was credible and found the convict guilty as charged.

Mrs Dipeolu sentenced Mr Adegesin to life in prison as a result.

During the trial, the prosecution and chief state counsel, Oluwaseni Ogunjimi, told the court that the convict committed the crime on August 18, 2018, in the Temidare Sabo area of Abeokuta.

Ms Ogunjimi stated that the Okada rider picked up the victim from the Lafenwa area in the evening as she was returning from work and took her to one of his friends' house.

She went on to say that when the convict and victim arrived at the house, Mr Adegesin threatened the victim with a broken bottle and grabbed her neck, threatening to kill her before raping her.
