Badagry youths group hosted three days food festival to showcase indigenous foods and delicacies, from 26th to 28th December, at Sycomore hotels, Badagry.

It is a three days food fair, where young Badagrians and vendors come together to showcase the local delicacies and particularly for them to see it live, and likewise have taste of these dishes.

Ashade Abdulsalam Abiodun the project coordinator Badagry food festival said, "Badagry as  tourist center shall provide an Avenue to showcase our food and delicacies, today we have here Moyo, Aplan, Ajogun (klaku), Tapioca, Donkunu, and Tuwo(Owo). It interest people to see these foods in an event like this.

"We intend to make this bigger by next year, this is just the maiden edition and this got people’s attention, the seller of Moyo exhausted her goods yesterday this shows how much the people like the food," Abdulsalam said.

He promised Badagrians that next year's food festival will big if there's enough endorsement.

"By next year, we are expecting a bigger endorsement which will help us to make it bigger than this,  where we can have access to more people and more varieties of food.

"It is good to attend events like this to know what our food looks like and for us to have them natural and it is also a place to meet new people and socialize. Staying free from anxiety and depression," he added.

Garuba Olumide aka Ayelabowo the team leader and voice of the farmers said to be sincere with you people, i have been connecting with people and having fun.

There is a common saying that when you eat, thank God and appreciate farmers.

Farmers can not be excluded from the celebration of the Badagry food festival since we produce these foods.

I tasted some foods yesterday and today, believe me the tastes are nice, the real local contents are available, especially the Aplan. The Kenke/Wanke and the fresh fish was good palatable.

I am pleading with our people to take this seriously since it is part of our culture. More vendors are also expected to be part of this too, which makes it more elaborate. The turnout becomes encouraging later in the evening.

Omoake Mercy, a participant in the food festival said I am so happy to be here, I have enjoyed myself so far, and I have tasted at least two of the native foods here, and I can tell you that the vendors have done well.

Many people have commented on the native delicacies, that they are nice, my opinion about this is that they should make this bigger next year, to accommodate more people and vendors.
