Sanwo-Olu Warns Law Enforcement Officers Against Harassment and Extortion

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has warned law enforcement officers against public harassment and extortion while carrying out their duties.


This advice was given by the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, at the Law Enforcement Training Institute 2022 passing out parade held at the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre in Magodo, Punch reports.


"This administration is irrevocably committed to upholding the tenets of the rule of law and will not tolerate any form of harassment, arbitrariness, or extortion from any of its law enforcement officers," he said.


"We will continue to strengthen our law enforcement officers' capacity by providing them with appropriate gadgets and equipment that will improve their efficiency and effectiveness while also promoting accountability and transparency, He told Punch. "The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Vehicle Inspection Service, Kick Against Indiscipline, and Neighborhood Safety Corp. were among the 8,316 law enforcement officers trained."


Mrs. Abiola Adeyinka, Chief Executive Officer of LETI, stated that the officers were trained in emotional intelligence and gender-based violence over a three-month period.


"This training included, among other things, team building, emotional intelligence, gender-based violence, emergency response training, and a review of law enforcement agency laws," she explained. "The remaining one day was used in physical training on agility, obstacle crossing, parade/drills, and so on."
