Mr. Gbenga Maxwell Ajayi, 40, who was kidnapped on his way to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos State, has been released.

The father of four was abducted last Friday while boarding a commercial vehicle in Lagos's Ijaye neighborhood.

He was released the next day after his kidnappers realized he couldn't be useful for ritual purposes.

Gbenga told Vanguard at his Ijaye residence that he boarded a commercial vehicle whose occupants dozed off after inhaling perfume sprayed by the bus conductor.

The victim, who was seen with bruises on his leg during Vanguard's visit, stated, "I can't go into detail about what happened on the bus, but I noticed that the conductor was waving money to everyone, which caused us to doze off.

"I initially notified my travel agent that I wanted to order a Bolt taxi, but I later discharged the rider when he chose an offline transaction due to traffic congestion.

"I then boarded a public bus bound for Oshodi, but we all dozed off after inhaling the perfume.

"When I awoke, I saw myself and the other passengers in a very nice apartment, but we were all dizzy and had white stains on our bodies."

"I heard an old man ordering my release and another saying that none of us could be used for ritual purposes."

"The charms placed on our heads were immediately removed, our eyes were tied, and we were DROVE to an area later identified as Epe." He stated.

According to the victim's brother, Seyi Ajayi, Gbenga told them that all of the passengers were already dressed in black. Then, one by one, a man placed a calabash on their heads.

"He said that if the charm worked on that person, he or she would be removed."

Gbenga had sent a WhatsApp message to someone claiming that something was being sprayed in the bus he was riding on and that passengers were feeling dizzy.

According to information provided by Vanguard, he was scheduled to fly to London on Ethiopian Airlines at 1:40pm on Friday and arrive at 6:35pm on Saturday.

He was later declared missing after the person who was supposed to meet him in London stated that he was not onboard.

A WhatsApp chat also revealed that at 9:44 a.m., as he was leaving the house, he chatted with his agent, who booked the flight ticket for him and informed him that he had ordered a cab to take him to the airport.
