Munkaila Ahmadu, who killed his parents in Jigawa State's Gagarawa Local Government Area, claimed he did so because they made blasphemous remarks about the prophet Muhammad.
Mr Ahmadu, a singer and member of the Tijjaniyya Islamic sect, claims his parents mocked him and called him insane because he was a praise singer for the prophet.
The state police arrested Mr Ahmadu, 37, after he killed his parents and injured two others on Thursday, according to PREMIUM TIMES.
He murdered his father, Ahmad Muhammad, 70, the village head of the Zarada community in the Gagarawa council area, and his mother, Ahmad Hauwa'u, 60, with a pestle.
Mr Ahmadu stated in a video recorded in police custody and shared with PREMIUM TIMES that he has no regrets for what he did because he was ordered to do so.
"I murdered them because they refused to accept the truth about the prophet Muhammad" (S.W.A). I killed them because they abused the prophet, and their punishment is death; no one who abused the Prophet can repent.
"I am a praise singer for the prophet; this year, God willing, I intend to do a video for my song, and I will be free because God is with the righteous, that is why I am not worried about my action," Mr Ahmadu said in a video recorded by the police.
"My parents don't (don't) like the prophet Muhammad because I adore him; they called me a lunatic; I begged my father to support my work (praise singing), and I told him that I don't womanize, gamble, do drugs, or steal, but he refused."
"My mother used to blackmail me by going to neighboring towns and telling people to reject me whenever I came to sing praises to the prophet because I am insane and refuse to work on the farm."
"I am now in police custody because, in human terms, I did something wrong, but in the eyes of God and the Prophet, what I did was right," Mr Ahmadu explained.
Mr Ahmadu, a father of five children, claimed his father had an affair with his wife.
