Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, has stated that the All Progressives Congress's presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, is his elder brother, whom he respects. And likened him to Brazilian football star, Pele who is no longer fit to play ball.
He revealed this in an interview on #WithChude, which the show's host, Chude Jideonwo, posted on his Instagram page on Monday.
When asked about the recent viral video in which he allegedly called Tinubu unfit to rule Nigeria, Peter Obi stated that Tinubu is his elder brother and that he respects him for his contributions to Nigeria.
"Tinubu is an elder brother of mine, and I respect him for who he is," Obi said. "They have all contributed in some way in the past."
"Tinubu is an elder brother of mine, and I respect him for who he is," Obi said. They have contributed in some way in the past, and they must be respected and recognized in due time, but I just tried to explain that just because they have contributed in the past and everything does not necessarily mean that they must stay forever and ever.
They progress, and things progress.
"It's like Brazil today; they recognize that Pele was a star, a fantastic footballer at times, but they're not going to field him in today's match."
